What is World Breastfeeding Week?

It's World Breastfeeding Week 2018, and Bebe au Lait is so proud to share the message and promote breastfeeding world wide.

Since the foundation of our company is supporting breastfeeding moms, it's incredibly important to us to share the benefits and advantages of breastfeeding!

So what is World Breastfeeding Week?

World breastfeeding Week

World Breastfeeding Week is an international event hosted by The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action to protect, promote and support breastfeeding. The first World Breastfeeding Week was celebrated in 1992 - almost 30 years ago!

Although the main, overall goal of WBW is to promote breastfeeding, a new set of actionable objectives are chosen each year. There are four main focuses for World Breastfeeding Week 2018 - Inform, Anchor, Engage, and Galvanize.

Bebe Au Lait strongly supports the irrefutable idea that breast milk is the perfect food for baby and that breastfeeding is the most natural way to nourish your little one. Although we know that "fed is best" and that breastfeeding simply isn't an option for some mothers, we believe that awareness, education and support for breastfeeding is incredibly important.

Different areas around the world, and even in the USA, face different issues. In some areas, breastfeeding is normalized. In others, not so much. Social and economic circumstances play an important role in a mother's access to food, security, and medical care for baby. Although all babies benefit from breastfeeding, it's especially important that breastfeeding is normalized and promoted in areas where poverty and malnutrition is high.

Why is it so important? Just take a look at these figures from the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action -

At Bebe Au Lait, we're proud to support and bring awareness to breastfeeding by providing stylish, beautifully made breastfeeding covers for nursing mothers. Although many moms opt to breastfeed without a cover, there are still plenty of areas where women prefer a modest cover while breastfeeding in public.

Modesty isn't the only reason using a nursing cover is practical - a cover acts as a barrier to keep the sun, biting insects, or cold wind away from baby's skin. Many moms find that using a cover allows baby to focus on breastfeeding and prevents baby's distraction - making breastfeeding more successful.

Our premium nursing covers are designed with our patented Rigiflex neckline, which stands away from the body, giving mom a clear line of sight on baby to monitor the latch and giving eye to eye bonding.

Our gorgeous and stylish nursing scarves are a great way to pack light and add to your wardrobe - while you're not nursing, they are a fashionable accessory.

And to make life even easier, we've just launched our new 5-in-1 cover - its a soft, stretchy jersey scarf that makes a perfect nursing cover and fashion accessory. But that's not all - it also transforms into a car seat cover, shopping cart cover, and baby carrier cover! A versatile product that truly does it all!
