In just 6 months, the Bebe au Lait Double Reversible Bib has become a highly praised Mommy Must-Have. Our bib has earned an iParenting Media Award for its innovative design, practicality, and chic prints.
We can tell you all about the unique 4-sided design, the easy and clean magnetic closure, and the one-of-a-kind prints. We can even talk all about how it’s machine washable and how it fits both babies and toddlers with ease.
Of course, we really want you to see what other people are saying about the bib…Have a look!
I guess I’m getting to that age where I’m actually becoming quite a seasoned veteran attendee of baby showers. Though, for as many baby shower games for which I’ve participated, I’ve yet to win! I do have a few favorites, however, that I’d love to share along with a few new ones which I was introduced to last week. If I’ve missed any of your favorites, please feel free to comment with yours!
It has been very busy over here at Bebe au Lait over the past few weeks…From getting all of our products certified as CPSIA compliant to launching our latest design pattern: Valencia, to our most exciting news of 2009: The launching of our hooded towels.
Let’s take a closer look at these gorgeous new towels! (Read More)
Instyle is a must-read. I especially like when they ask celebrities what they carry in their make-up bag. Online they have a slightly different version -’In Your Bag’: http://inyourbag.instyle.com/your_look_blog/celebrity_bags/index.html. I like to compare the contents of my Treesje bag with the likes of Ivanka Trump (she also carries around several lipglosses at once - they’re easier to find if there are 5 of them).
Another area I am curious about is what people surround themselves with at work. I have to feel inspired by the items on my desk, I couldn’t imagine having a dull grey space. There is always so much on my desk; fabric swatches to be approved, pantone books, magazine/newspaper articles that I need to find the time to read and the list goes on. Here is a shot of part of my desk. If I didn’t have to be away from my desk so much during the day i’d like to light some candles too. I always take a single flower from a bunch at home – one of my all-time favorites is the Safari Sunset shown here, I love that it changes color from one day to the next.
What’s on your desk? We’d love to see what you surround yourselves with!

A ray of sunshine in the middle of winter! Claire Ekelund and I have revised and revamped one of our favorite Bebe au Lait patterns to create a perfect complement to our products. Valencia uses a similar design to Sevilla, but has the sunshiney feeling of glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. In fact, the name Valencia is in honor of the beautiful city in Spain famous for its oranges. The pink and orange color palette is a perfect contrast to the blue hues of Sevilla, making a nice family of boy/girl products such as bibs and hooded towels. Olé!
It’s true, celebrities sometimes get to shop at events where they are chaperoned and guaranteed privacy, and the rest of us have to shop the standard ways. However, they still choose which brands and products they like and when it comes to their children, they’re extra sensitive about what they’ll use and specific about why they like it. With a boomlet in Hollywood, we are hearing from a lot of celebrity moms lately! At the Boom Boom Room (the day before the Golden Globes, in LA) we introduced Hollywood to Bebe au Lait’s new, exclusive patterns and all of the benefits of our innovative new Double Bibs and even had fun talking about parenting.
Once children are ready for solid foods, protecting their clothes–during snacking, meals and in the washing machine–means finding a sizable Bib without scratchy closures. Most of the celebrities I met had a Bebe au Lait or Hooter Hiders cover IN their diaper bag and were eagerly anticipating our entry into the next stage of their parenting lives. The Double Bib and All-Purpose burp cloths were adored for their simple, chic designs and beautiful style. More than a few celebrities even commented about our high-end cottons that could withstand a lot of use, travel and washing rendering them right for an eco-minded lifestyle where quality and craftsmanship are more highly valued than disposable, poorly crafted versions of something similar.

Perhaps if you tried calling our headquarters yesterday after 3 p.m. PST you noticed no one was minding the phones. Our apologies for the inconvenience, but our company closed early to take a little field trip 20 minutes north to our off-site Warehouse in Santa Clara. (Until September of this year, our warehouse occupied the ground floor of our headquarters here in Los Gatos. That is, until they outgrew the space and moved to a new 6000 sq. ft. facility.) There in Santa Clara, everyone finally got to tour the new space and indulge in a pre-Thanksgiving potluck feast.
After sampling our dishes which included roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade lasagna and an array of salads and baked goodies, we all drew numbers 1 through 16 and exchanged holiday gifts White Elephant style. If you’re not familiar with this entertaining yet inexpensive way to exchange gifts with a fair amount of people, we follow this version. Our theme this year was “tacky yet useful” which keeps things simple and stress-free in terms of finding a gift to give in order to participate. Everyone was invited to bring either something from home that’s never been used or to make a “tacky yet useful” purchase of no more than $10. The most popular (i.e. “stolen”) gifts this year? A colorful bird-shaped vegetable peeler, a handle of sake, a collection of children’s storybooks and a slinky-yoyo set.
Thanks for stopping by our blog and Happy Thanksgiving to you all from everyone at Bebe au Lait!
We had quite an ensemble gathered just a week ago for our third and final photo shoot of 2008. About seven little ones clamoring around with their mommies in tow greatly outnumbered our professional models, especially whilst shooting at our first location in the morning.
Throughout the day we captured many beautiful photos to represent Bebe au Lait and our new products. Our Double Bibs are scheduled to arrive very very soon and we can hardly contain ourselves with excitement! If you’re signed up for our newsletter, keep checking your in-boxes for an announcement when they will be available for you and our retailers! If you’re not signed up yet but you’d like to, you may do so here.
Finally, many appreciative thanks to all who helped pull together this photo shoot!
Our Bebe au Lait office was more enchanted than haunted this Halloween. We had Dorothy, two princesses, a cute little cop and a baby chunky monkey visit us for some in-office trick or treating. Since several of our office mommies are uber healthy, we treated the kid to Play-Doh and pint-size toys along with traditional Halloween candies. (And cupcakes for the “big kids!”).
Rachael introduced the Switch Witch to Claire and later that night, the Switch Witch paid their kids a visit, switching out their candy to leave a present in its place.
