Belly Bars – Next Time I Promise To Share

Written By: Claire E.

A few weeks ago Ronnie and I met with Leslie S. Barber from Belly Bars (Nutra Bella). We’ve known each other for a while now – running into her and her business partner Meredith at various trade shows and such. It’s always nice to meet up with fellow entrepreneurs – sharing stories about how we got started – some funny, some unbelievable!
One of my good friends is very pregnant right now, so Leslie very kindly gave me some of their products so that I could pass them on to her. I’d like to say that they all made it safely to my friend, but something about the lovely packaging and the fact that they are healthy and delicious…well…in my defense, Belly Bar products are made for before, during and after pregnancy…I wonder if six years later counts??
Later this month we will be giving all of our online customers a chance to try the ‘Baby Needs Chocolate’ Belly Bar in our ‘No Tricks, Just Treats’ promotion. Stay tuned!

Double Cover

Written By: Rachael S.

We learn a lot from our moms in the breastfeeding trenches and during holidays and travel times we hear a lot about why moms like to have two Bébé au Lait covers in rotation–one stays in the baby bag and one stays in the house. That way they’re never without no matter where they visit or who comes to visit them. And if one is in the washer, then there’s still one on active duty. To say “thank you for a great year” we took that info and are running a very special promo through tomorrow only–BOGO. Enter code “MYSTERY” at checkout and when you buy one nursing cover, we will slip a second one (mystery pattern) in the box plus right now there’s FREE SHIPPING. That’s serious savings, and serious readiness for wherever your holiday takes you. Be Well and Happy Holidays!

A Constant at My Table for over Three Years! The Bebe au Lait Burp Cloth

A Constant at My Table for over Three Years! The Bebe au Lait Burp Cloth

Before I worked directly with Bebe au Lait, the owners/founders were friends of friends and so I came to acquire a few items before the name was as well known as it is today. Besides the nursing cover, I bought a handful of their burp cloths–because they were pretty and truly absorbent. I would estimate that from then to now, these six burps cloths have been washed at least 200 times which means they have only cost me about a penny per use…and they’re still in use. The Bebe au Lait burp cloths were a constant presence during the breast feeding, bottle, and baby food years and are still at our dining table, in our cars, and in the kid’s travel kit since they do their job so well and wash so easily. I really like an item constructed of a high enough quality to not only withstand that amount of use, but one that also lasts beyond my kids’ “baby” years. So, here are some shots from our Saturday pancake breakfast which is where and when I realized that I’d been using these “burp” cloths for 3-1/2 years now…and counting.

The 10 Things You Need in Your Diaper “Bag”

Coach VARICK NYLON DRAFTING TOTE, $298

Coach VARICK NYLON DRAFTING TOTE, $298

Handle any situation! Be ready for the unexpected! But don’t tote around a heavy, over-burdened diaper bag that weighs you down.
Forget the expensive mad dash to a store for items you left at home. Instead, focus on these ten essentials that meet your needs by doing double duty or packed in just the right amount.
1. Key word: Tote. Gone are the days of the diaper bag. Use one great tote that you like to carry and keep only the essentials inside. Works later on as a carry-all for the plane, laptop bag, purse etc.
2. Multi-purpose Bebe au Lait breastfeeding cover–nursing, pumping, privacy on-the-go. Doubles as a sunshade over a stroller or front-carrier + as a lightweight blanket + as a “staring stranger” shield around town or on a plane + a changing mat. Machine washable, over and over,
3. Baby wipes. For Baby, you, seats, tables…the list goes on. Be sure they’re in a re-closable and refillable container so you’re never without.
4. Diapers. 3 per baby per 4 hour period of time.
5. Ointment or diaper cream in a small tube.
5. Two small toys, preferably favorites OR ones Baby hasn’t seen in a while.
6. Ibuprofen &/or acetominophen (check with your Doctor for dosage and appropriate uses)
7. 2 small, plastic bags (preferably re-used from the grocery store) for stinky trash or wet clothes.
8. One extra outfit.
9. Natural, unscented lip balm–great for your lips, cuticles, sore nipples, and to quickly force your eyebrows into shape as well as provide a pretty bit of light on top of your cheekbones when you haven’t had time to do makeup!
10. Hand sanitizer.

Mom-to-Mom tip: After every trip with your tote, be sure to re-stock and re-organize so you’re always ready to go.

Angelina Jolie Breastfeeding

Written By: Rachael S.

As a mother of twins, I can tell you with 100% assurance that it is not easy to keep up with breast-fed babies who are on the same feeding schedules. And as a mother of now 3-year old twins who are so healthy in many ways, I can say with 100% assurance that it’s worth it and I’m thankful (with extra thanks to Renee my post-natal doula) that I could make it all work for them because it was challenging in many ways. So here’s kudos to Angelina Jolie who is apparently not only breastfeeding Knox and Vivienne but also promoting it.
