My 3-Year Olds Can Operate an iPhone

Written By: Rachael S.

iphone_screenshotI watched my son pick up my iPhone last week, turn it on, and swipe his finger around until he found the App I had downloaded for my kids (Firefly) and play it. I was fascinated by this because I’ve never specifically taught him to do this and I don’t really want my phone to be used as a toy. I was also kind of proud that he was so technologically comfortable. Then his twin sister grabbed it from him and ran away so I had to intervene.

It occurred to me that there are some devices that do make parenting and family-life easier and that I rely on them more than I realized. Take the iPhone which is now loaded with five Apps for pre-schoolers that I use to keep them occupied when we have an especially long wait somewhere and I need them in one spot. My other favorite is Skype. We live many states away from our family and friends but use Skype Video Skype Screen ShotChat to check in with them at least once a week. We even opened Christmas presents to the kidlets over Skype Video so my parents could see them open their gifts. It meant a lot to all of us and made the holidays more holiday-like even though we weren’t actually in the same room with our families.

Valencia is here!

Written By: Mike C.

valencia_suite

A ray of sunshine in the middle of winter! Claire Ekelund and I have revised and revamped one of our favorite Bebe au Lait patterns to create a perfect complement to our products. Valencia uses a similar design to Sevilla, but has the sunshiney feeling of glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. In fact, the name Valencia is in honor of the beautiful city in Spain famous for its oranges. The pink and orange color palette is a perfect contrast to the blue hues of Sevilla, making a nice family of boy/girl products such as bibs and hooded towels. Olé!

Hollywood is Hip to Bebe au Lait

Written By: Rachael S.

It’s true, celebrities sometimes get to shop at events where they are chaperoned and guaranteed privacy, and the rest of us have to shop the standard ways. However, they still choose which brands and products they like and when it comes to their children, they’re extra sensitive about what they’ll use and specific about why they like it. With a boomlet in Hollywood, we are hearing from a lot of celebrity moms lately! At the Boom Boom Room (the day before the Golden Globes, in LA) we introduced Hollywood to Bebe au Lait’s new, exclusive patterns and all of the benefits of our innovative new Double Bibs and even had fun talking about parenting.

Once children are ready for solid foods, protecting their clothes–during snacking, meals and in the washing machine–means finding a sizable Bib without scratchy closures. Most of the celebrities I met had a Bebe au Lait or Hooter Hiders cover IN their diaper bag and were eagerly anticipating our entry into the next stage of their parenting lives. The Double Bib and All-Purpose burp cloths were adored for their simple, chic designs and beautiful style. More than a few celebrities even commented about our high-end cottons that could withstand a lot of use, travel and washing rendering them right for an eco-minded lifestyle where quality and craftsmanship are more highly valued than disposable, poorly crafted versions of something similar.

Let us know what you think too! Leave us a comment.
